 Dependable, Sturdy, and LightweightDec 22, 2009

This is simply the best, most functional watch I own. I own a couple of "jewelry" type watches, but for the most part, this is the watch I wear day-in and day-out. I have taken the watch diving, into sub-zero temps, alpine environments, and extreme heat. It gets pounded on rocks when climbing; it's been buried in the snow for hours, and it has never missed a beat. I have had this watch about five years, and I use it all day, every day.
My P6506 is slightly different than the picture in that it has military time printed under the main numbers (i.e. there is a small 13 under the 1, a 14 under the 2, etc.). Also, the "traser" is not printed on the dial. Otherwise, this is the same watch: sapphire crystal, titanium case, and carbon fiber bezel make this a lightweight watch that is also tough. It is a quartz movement, so it keeps accurate time, and never really needs to be adjusted. I move time zones a lot, so I am constantly changing the time, but for a non-atomic watch it's accurate.
After five years of hard use, the bezel has started to wear a bit at the edges, and the case has a few scratches. The crystal is perfectly clear, as it is very difficult to scratch sapphire with anything but sapphire or a diamond. I have changed the band a few times, but it takes a standard 22mm band, so it's easy to find them at Walmart or watch store.
Of course, the draw of this watch over others is that the hands and dots glow extremely bright. I find that most watches are useless after several hours in the dark. When you have 12 or more hours of darkness during winter camping, most watches won't let you see the time without a flashlight. This watch glows bright and does not need recharging like other forms of hand and dial illumination.
Overall, this is a great watch and well worth the money. It's it's too pricey, try one of the cheaper trasers. You can get a steel case and mineral coated glass for much less.

Not just for Seal or Special Forces - Great for us regular guysFeb 13, 2009

My brother, who is in the military, introduced me to Traser Watches. He wouldn't be without one. Traser watches use Tritium technology - the hands glow unbelievably bright - rather then the low light provided by normal phosphorescent lighting.
I needed a watch I could read while driving, without having to put on my reading glasses, a watch that I could read in the middle of the night, without having to push extra buttons, one that I could read while working in near dark, photographing animals at night, and one that was durable, attractive, accurate and a good value.
The Commander Titanium (Titanium head and band rather then the black one shown in the picture) is one of those rare items that makes me feel like I have exactly what I need in something that I use every day.
When I reached 50, I started using reading glasses. I couldn't read any of my other watches without putting on the reading glasses while trying to drive. The large white hands against the black background are so easy to read. I don't know if the Tritium makes the hands brighter, but I can read this watch better then any watch I own or have tried. Not to mention the middle of the night. I rarely use an alarm clock so it sits on my wifes side of the bed. If I wake in dark, I can read my Traser clearly without turning on any lights or trying to push any buttons. I can read it in the theater, at a play, or even just sitting watching TV with the lights out.
Although this watch is virtually scratch proof, Sapphire crystal with Titanium case, I bought a Traser Type 3 for those times I am really going to be rough on my watch or know that I could loose it.
All of my other watches, including a Breitling, sit in a drawer. I can't honestly think why I would need another watch. Although I am starting to think about the Traser Classic Alarm Big Date.

This is my first Traser and my first watch to have those radioactive glow vials. (nice).
I was shopping between Traser, Lum-Tec, Citizen, Luminox, etc for all utilitarian/military type watches.
My main requirements was great water resistance (non-diver type).
Lumination had to last (tritium if possible).
Made to take hits, drops, mud, sand, water.
Screw down crown
Large enough face, so I can read easily.
Glass had to be scratch resistance (sapphire if possible).
Options
Date/day wheel if possible.
Stainless steel or Titanium (no plastic body).
NATO strap or equivalent.
Auto powered
After a couple months of research on AMAZON, watch type messageboards, it came down to the Traser Commander Titanium P6506
I have had it for a couple weeks and I have no complaints yet.
I have washed my car and truck, gone off-roading, did some yard work and it has gotten wet, hit the side of my truck, gotten dusty.
And so far no issues.
The tritium is bright enough to view at night with no straining.
It is not super bright that you may see in advertisements.
My only grip is the strap's end, it just hangs out there.
Looks unfinished...
With the NATO strap the end is stickup up over the bezel.
It is hardly long enough to tuck it back under one of the metal loops.
I have posted some pics so you will see what i mean.
Overall - I am very pleased with the purchase of this watch and expect to have it last for a very long long time.
I do plan to continue updating this review, as time progresses.

The Traser P6506 watch, is an excellent watch.
the Titanium case, with the Carbon fiber bezel fit very well with the NATO style strap.
It's very lightweight.
In complete darkness, the Tritium markers are easy to read.
It's very comfortable.
I like it, a lot.

A couple years back, I purchased a Luminox 3101. I bought it for a gift, but for reasons that are outside the scope of this review, I couldn't deliver it until recently.
During that period, I wore the watch regularly, usually during outdoors-type activities. It is rotated with a couple other watches: Automatic Aquaracer Chrono & Victorinox Ti Chrono Classic. The watch saw mountain biking, running, camping, swimming/snorkeling, etc. on a regular basis and it performed flawlessly. It became one of my favorite watches, so upon having to deliver it, I replaced it with what I really wanted: an identical watch albeit with a sapphire crystal and Ti case. I waited a little while to review the new Traser to be sure it was on track to perform as did the Lumi.
The Traser P6506 appears to be constructed by the same maker as is the Luminox. Except for the materials, the watches are identical down to the unfinished casting tit on the bezel.
Likes:
- T25 Lume is excellent. Not too bright, definitely not dim. Instantly readable while driving, biking, or running at night.
- Extremely light weight. Perfect for athletic activity. I'm not one of those individuals sold on the concept that something needs to be heavy to be 'quality'.
- Ti case. See above. More watches should be made from Ti.
- Sapphire crystal. I've run some sapphire crystals 15+ years with no visible scratches.
- Not too big, not too small.
- Ronda mechanism.
- Screw down caseback
- Screw down crown
- This is not a dressy watch. It looks like it means business.
- The cool etching on the back.
- Extra warranty if registered.
- The existence of a NATO band. Good for when you want to put it outside a wetsuit or other gear. But it frays & the buckle hole, so see below.
Dislikes:
- Is it really that hard to machine down the casting tit on the bezel??
- Although it locks to its set point extremely reliably, the bezel is a little loose. This is different from my experience with the SS watch. Perhaps the dims are a little different for the Ti case?
- The NATO band immediately started fraying in the most-used buckle hole.
Wishes:
Wish traser still offered the 24 hour 'sterile' face.
Other thoughts:
The Ti almost looks to be anodized. As I've read in other reviews, the beveling of the sapphire catches the light. I'm not a huge fan of this given the watch's objective, but the effect is noticeable and is probably appreciated by some. Finally, I haven't noticed the second hand 'wobble' that people complain about on either of the watches. I guess it bounces a -tiny- bit at each tick, but the watch keeps excellent time.
Overall my likes far outweigh my dislikes. Looking forward to 10+ years use from this one. Will probably mode the face to the 24h version at some point.
