I purchased this watch off amazon after seeing a friend Seiko kinetic with black finish and gold accents and being impressed by it. I am a little disappointed, because based on the picture the middle bands appear slightly silver in tint, but are in fact a more matte black than the outer part of the watch band. I'll try to post a picture soon. I've also been a little frustrated with the charge, I followed the included instructions to charge the watch by swinging it around for a few hours, but could only bring it up to a 3/4 reading. After a couple weeks of wearing it now, the charge indicator will show full or 3/4 (I'm not sure why it seems inconsistent which it show). I cant complain about the mechanics of the watch, it seems to keep good time. I dont know if this is typical of Kinetic watches, but this watch is loud. It makes a soft but audible grinding sound with every motion of my wrist. The watch is a nice weight and size, and fits well after I had a jewler remove a couple of the bands.
So, Pros:
Inexpensive for a Seiko kinetic
Decent looking, could be used as casual and maybe formal watch
Keeps good time, good mechanics
Self Winding feature works well
Fits well when band re-sized
and Cons:
Not as flashy and nice looking as the image would lead you to believe
Kinetic Winding is loud for a watch
Inconsistent charge reading
Occasionally pinches hairs on wrist (rare but painful)
Overall I would not purchase this watch if you're looking for a dress watch (you need to wear it regularly anyway to keep it wound) but I think it will suit me nicely as an everyday watch, and occasional dress watch until I save some money to spring for a legitimate dress watch.

"My first Seiko Kinetic, although not my first Seiko. Watch looked fantastic! Better than the pictures. The band was fairly easy to take the links out of, I used a paper clip and a pair of pliers. Compared to other kinetics it seems to be a bit lighter. So far its been running like a champ (I wouldn't expect anything less from Seiko)I LOVE wearing it and have received many compliments on the watch. I really looks better than the pictures, seems to keep time perfectly. I really like the kinetic part for the simple fact that I wear a different watch to work and I can leave this one for days without having to shake it or wind it to keep it going. I think kinetic is a great alternative, should have made this purchase YEARS ago! "

I've had my SKA443 Kinetic Black Ion Finish watch for about a month now. I went a little crazy and bought 4 seikos over about a 10-day period. 2 are the seiko 5 automatics, 1 is a battery-powered "retrograde" Seiko in addition to this one. This one and the 'retrograde' are my favourites. It's an under-stated watch that isn't too flashy but gets a lot of compliments for good reason. The two-tone band has the subtle mat-black centre portion and is very well-made -- creates an interesting look.
The watch itself is great. Keeps perfect time. Has a really nice crystal & overall really well-made look and feel. The 'kinetic' self-charging feature is great too. The automatic seikos have to be worn pretty much everyday to keep them ticking but this one can be worn infrequently and still keeps a solid charge. Like the other review I read on this watch, I have also found that I can't really get the watch up to the "100% charged" level but can easily keep it at the 3/4 level (3/4 charge is supposedly enough power to leave it on the shelf for a month, if I remember correctly). Not an overly big deal to me -- does seem to not fully charge/reflect that it's fully charged as the owner's manual suggests but this has been absolutely no issue for me for the reason I just mentioned.
Yes, the gears do make a little bit of noise as the weight moves around as part of the electricity generating process but the noise is very minimal & I find it more of a subtle confirmation that the watch is doing what it's supposed to do -- make electricity/charge itself. You only notice the noise if you're actually listening for it & in a pretty quiet place.
It's a great watch & looks great too. I'd highly recommend it.

Looks good, keeps great time but is heavy and pretty thick for a modern automatic. Citizen has a better idea with the eco-drive

I am more than happy with my new Seiko wrist watch. Definitely great value for the price. Ideal to wear with casual and even formal clothing. The watch looks even better than in the pictures. In summary, I find myself very satified with the quality I got with this purchase.
