Description:

Dazzle her with the timeless beauty and simple grace of this platinum diamond solitaire ring. A single 1/2 carat round diamond is cradled in a secure six-prong setting of gleaming platinum. The graceful setting and simple, pure lines of the platinum band highlight the stone beautifully. This is an exceptional quality diamond. Graded G-H, it is in the upper range of near colorless and appears dazzling white in the setting. It has a beautiful clarity of minimum VS2, with no inclusions visible to the unaided eye.

One of the most rare and precious metals on earth, platinum offers incredible strength and a natural bright luster, making it the ideal choice for showcasing diamonds. Its radiant shine is similar to white gold, but even brighter, and unlike white gold, it will never yellow or require replating. Platinum is also hypoallergenic and ideal for those with sensitive skin.

5Exacly What I was looking forOct 17, 2009
By S. Flynn
I purchased this engagement ring for my fiancee because the price for the quality and size of the diamond was significantly less then retail stores. It was one of the more hesitant online purchases I have made both because of the price and because of the uncertainty of the quality of the product I was buying. The ring was shipped overnight air (as all diamonds from amazon are) so it arrived early the next day. The first thing I did was to bring the ring to a jeweler to evaluate the quality. Both the color and clarity he reviewed the diamond as were identical to what was specified by amazon. No two diamonds are alike so I would highly recommend getting the diamond evaluated after a purchase just to be sure you get what you pay for. As for my fiancee she was thrilled with the ring and loves the simple traditional look.

4Appraisal information for this ringMar 10, 2011
By Derek J. Overstreet "yngwie scruggs"
I purchased this as an engagement ring. First of all, she really likes it. My fiancee has rather small hands, and even though when I bought the ring I was worried it would be too small, it's just right and maybe a little on the big side. The ring I happened to order did not have any documentation on the diamond, but I knew that going in. I figured that Amazon is a pretty stand-up company and that if I had any issues, I would just return the ring.

Today I had the ring appraised by a GIA certified and very experienced gemologist. Budget about $100 for that. The diamond graded out at 0.50 ct, G-H color, and SI1 clarity (just a step down from the advertised VS2). The metal is ~95.0% platinum by acid test. The appraised value for the ring (retail replacement) was $3.4k.

Also regarding resizing: solitaires can be re-sized apparently over a much wider range than rings with multiple diamonds or channel settings, so if you need to go down to a 5-5.5 like my fiancee does, then that should work just fine. I was told though by the appraiser that platinum requires a special type of laser cutting tool in order to re-size the ring appropriately, and to make sure you check to see that they don't fill the space in the ring in with white gold solder, as apparently that is prone to crystallization and fracture or also just wear off the plating, whereas platinum will not wear in a similar fashion.

Overall I am very happy with the purchase. While I'm slightly disappointed that the clarity was not VS2 as advertised, that could just be a small difference of opinion between this appraiser and the original grader of the diamond. Most importantly, my fiancee really likes it.
